When there's life, there's hope

pardon me, today's post won't be the typical cliche blog posts on my day. Dad came back from China after a week of ministering to the pastors over thr, i'm extremely proud of him but he was telling me that one person wasn't so pleased, that's the devil. some of you might not believe in God or any of this, sometimes, i doubt the existence of God myself but when you encounter him, everything is just so real. why do good things happen to bad people? This is one of the most difficult question i guess in all of theology. God had allowed Satan to do everything he wanted to do except kill him. what was Job's reaction? "Though he slay me, yet will i hope in him" he did not understand why God had allowed the things He did, but he knew God was good and therefore, continued to trust in Him. ultimately, that should be our reaction as well. The truth is, there are no "good" people. It is abundantly clear that all of us are tainted by/infected with sin. Yes, sometimes bad things happen to people who seem undeserving of them but God allows things to happen for His reasons, whether or not we understand them. Above all, i always remember that God is good, just loving and merciful. Often things happen to us that we simply cannot understand. However, instead of doubting God's goodness, our reaction should be to trust Him.

My dad is a passionate follower of Christ. He has always modeled to me what it means to be a person after God's heart. I have always admire him greatly! One of the things i love about my dad is that he is always present. maybe not physically because he'll always travel but he is always there for us. he will always make time for us and as his kids, we know that we could interrupt him at any time and he would make time for us and for whatever we needed. In this recent trip to China, he nearly lost his life. his driver was driving him and most of you know, China has really bad streets. There were no traffic lights on the street and he when turned to his right, he saw this gigantic transport truck driving towards the car they were in. right at that moment he shouted at the driver to turn. his entire life flashed past him. he told God that no, this cannot happen. he has kids, his parents, his wife to take care of, he cannot just die like that. it was a spine-chilling experience for my dad. coincidentally, second november, the day my dad nearly got in to an accident, was the death anniversary of my uncle, my dad's older brother. this just feels so uncanny.

Life is precious because God created it and people are made in God's image and so have the ability to relate to Him. from a pedestrian's point of view, God may seem to love some of us more than others. meaning that some life is more precious than others. That's why there is heaven and hell. To God however every life is precious and special and purposeful. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, but we can try to spread the word of God and it's wonder. as cliche as it sounds, we only live once, live it to the fullest.
