Arrived in Rome on the sixth day, the capital of Italy is beyond beautiful. Definitely my favourite sight-seeing city out of all the places we visited. Our first stop: The Colosseum! The building is built of concrete and stone, and is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture. btw check out my dad in the last picture, he ran after the horse and shouted "Vevien!! hurry help me take a picture with the horse!!!" Weird father is weird, hahaha!
After which we visited the Trevi Fountain! It brings water all the way from the Salone Springs and the water at the bottom of the fountain represents the sea. Legend has it that you will return to Rome if you throw a coin into the water so we each threw two coins and made our individual wishes haha. Darlene just wished that she returns to Singapore lol.
The pantheon!!! It was originally a temple of all pagan gods but it was then converted in to a church. It contains the tomb of the famous artist Raphael and several Italian kings (can't rmb all their names). If i'm not wrong, the pantheon is designed by Michaelangelo!
This was beside the pantheon i think, gorgeous place... we ate piping hot chestnuts it the cold ^_^
lunch at a random Italian restaurant!
and off to Vatican city!!! Vatican city is a city in Rome so it's a city in a city, right... i got confused too. They have their own set of laws and everything. Josh told me that it's the smallest country in the world. I have no idea. Anyway, it's a really nice place. It's ruled by the Bishop of rome - the Pope. They have his picture sold everywhr lol!
One of my fav days in Europe! I'd definitely want to visit Rome agn x
